Somber is a 5 piece acoustic rock group, With Long Island City NY where we rehearse and record weekly. Most bands strive for gimmicks and this group somehow had a gimmick instantly without trying. The fact that the guitarists are sisters who play astonishingly well, their vocalist is a dude when its usually reversed.All the members of Somber have been in numerous bands throughout the years and in all styles of music. Randy(Vocalist) started playing in a Heavy Metal/Hardcore band called D-Nine for roughly 10 years. Then later joined the underground NY Hardcore band "Backslap" briefly until reuniting with Jasmine who was in the "Untitled Band". Somber originally started out as a 3 piece acoustic group with the addition of Jasmine's sister Roxanne on guitar from the band "Anti-Alias". 3 years into the bands existence we received a welcoming message from long time friend and now bassist Jason Croft who've played in numerous cover bands throughout the years. Jason just solidified such a great bottom end that adding Drums to the band seemed only the right thing to do. In comes Corey Folta on drums in early 2008. With a jazz/indie rock background, corey just adds a loose yet solid kick ass feel to the band. In closing - expect to see some kick ass original tunes in the near future. Somber can take off in any direction it wants. Were an evergrowing Animal with endless possibilities. Keep a look out!When you listen to the tracks available for download and free stream. You immediately dismiss any gimmicks and can hear genuinely good musicians at work having a blast with each other.
