THE NEW EP TRANSMISSIONS FROM THE SIXTH STAR IS OUT NOW ON ITUNES FOR THE MEAGER PRICE OF £3.16!!!
Transmissions represents a leap forward in sound for The Psychedelic Underground and at a mere £3.16 is great value for money... Surely only a sandwich from Rosas can top that! The track-listing is as follows:
1. What Doesn't Kill Me
2. Heaven's About To Burst
3. The Sixth Star
4. Kayleigh Kaleidoscope
What Doesn't Kill Me is a euphoric opener containing looping synths and vocal mantras into a crescendo before collapsing in on itself to reveal the Secret Machines-esque, driving and heartfelt Heaven's About To Burst.
Leading on from there is the electro groove orientated drone of The Sixth Star which eventually feeds itself into the seminal Kayleigh Kaleidoscope, a trippy ethereal closing track that represents easily the best The Psychedelic Underground has yet to offer.
Kayleigh Kaleidoscope is available to listen to on myspace now (www.myspace.com/psychedelicunderground) and is also being release on a compilation CD Not The Mellon Baller which catalogues new musical talent.
Once again the artwork was designed and painted by my talented sister Georgie Cashman (www.gdoesdesign.com
The Psychedelic Underground is the work of Alex Langfield who uses electronics and effects to create his psychedelic soundscapes. Bringing together dance influences such as The Chemical Brothers and Orbital with bands like Spiritualized, Mercury Rev and The Secret Machines, TPU create a unique, ethereal, hard hitting and intelligent sound. Familiar to those in the Carlisle music scene and looking to break into the Birmingham scene The Psychedelic Underground has played alongside the likes of Let Airpanes Circle Overhead, Kasabian, Chikinki and The Heat.
The Sagittarius EP is also out on iTunes now and is available for a mere £4.74 in the UK and Europe!
