About Me

THE BOYZ ARE BACK! To celebrate the 10th anniversary of my first book, Mama's Boyz: As American as Sweet Potato Pie! I have just completed my NEWEST book, Mama's Boyz: Home Schoolin'! It's even bigger and better than the first. 112-pages of comic strips and stories, and even a section on how I draw my strip. There's also a story featuring best-selling author Eric Jerome Dickey as a cartoon character! But don't just take my word for it, check out one of my first reviews:"Jerry has 'crafted' a book of his comic strips chock full of real people and poignant messages. Accessible to everyone, it provides hours of discussion between those young and older, across ages, races, and other 'borders' both real and imagined. Right there along with an apple a day, try a comic strip a day!"

ABOUT ME:
I'm the creator of Mama’s Boyz, a comic strip that has been syndicated weekly by King Features since 1995.Cartoons featured in Chicken Soup For The African American Soul, Chicken Soup For The African American Woman’s Soul, The Idiot's Guide to Comedy Writing, 100 Years of American Newspaper Comics and the college textbook Facing Difference; Race, Gender and Mass Media. Also featured in a “how to draw cartoons” segment in a video series from Harcourt Press called Media Literacy and Communications Skills.
Fortunate enough to have illustated greeting cards, board games, coloring books, posters, t-shirts and lots more which you'll see in a slideshow below. For more on my comic strip check out my website. www.mamasboyz.comThis is a Flash cartoon I recently did called "Confronting the Black Superheroes of My Childhood." It's amazing how something that seemed so cool as a kids makes me crazy when I read them today. To see more of my Flash stuff, go to the cartoon section of my Mama's Boyz website. www.mamasboyz.com/cartoons
And finally here are a few pieces from my portfolio. I've been blessed to get some pretty good opportunities. Thanks for visiting. JC

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I've already been lucky enough to meet some of the folks on my list (check out some of them in my picture collection), but of the ones left, there's still Oprah, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Robert Townsend, Spike Lee and Dave Chapelle to name a few.
