Reading, writing, diddling around on the guitar, diddling around with other things, eating, games. This area surely to be expanded but let's get me out there, eh?
Some poets who are writing stuff that doesn't make one want to put a bullet in one's head. Particularly my head. And other creative types who are doing interesting things. And people that are positive without being sentimental. I've got enough of that for the all of us. And people who are negative if they make me laugh. And people with too much money who need help spending it. And maybe, just maybe (no promises here), you.
Its gotta have a little something going for it that sets it apart. Unless I'm in one of THOSE moods. Then I might just wanna shake my ass. To anything, I mean. You know, to Nelly or some shit. Shudder to think of it. Mainstays are REM, Frank Black, Pixies, They Might Be Giants, U2, and Joni Mitchell. Liz Phair and Tori Amos. I like a funky beat but I can't name bands there. Appalachian music. Minutemen, DK, Circle Jerks, Meatmen all have their place. Butt Trumpet and Boss Hogg sit next to Dave Matthews and Crowded House on the cd shelf. And lets not forget show tunes...
The Passion of the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, Gospel Road, Last Temptation of Christ, Jesus of Montreal, Jesus Christ Superstar, Brides of Christ, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Da jegg traff Jesus...med sprettert, Stripping for Jesus, Gas Station Jesus, Cowboy Jesus, Super Jesus, Life of Brian, and Blood of the Undead: the Final Splatter.
I'll watch anything Joss Whedon does. Huge fan of Buffy, Firefly. Strangers with Candy was awesome. I think the "I love the 70's/80's" stuff is really funny and the editing is amazing but I hate myself for getting sucked into it when its on. Dave Chappelle is a current fave. Ah, and the Daily Show.
This week I am reading "Dangerous De-Liasons: What's really behind the war between France and the U.S." Really good stuff if you want to get behind the bullshit rhetoric...its Walter Wells editor of the International Herald Tribune and Jean-Marie Colombani editor of Le Monde conversing on the topic...set up like them batting the shite to and fro...very informative and has expanded my understanding not only of that conflict but of many aspects of both U.S. and French culture.
