Kevin’s musical style started early - and he knew he was destined to become a singer. In a recent interview Kevin said, “I want to focus on my roots and put a little bit more rock into my sound.†He’s exploring the raw edges of the electronic guitar while keeping the backdrop tones of the lyrics consistent with his reoccurring themes of personal relationships and love. He’s in the studio now and producing a new CD for late summer/early fall that will capture a more provocative tantalizing groove.
His songs are real, romantic, and intimate. They are original and his lyrics pull back the layers of everyday interaction between boy and girl. Girl - wanting boy to know how much she needs to be important, pursued, loved, and cherished. And boy - knowing he has to say just the right thing, whispering it at times into the music, into her ears.
Kevin likes to spend his days writing and playing songs on his guitar. He loves to wake up early in the morning to feel the cool California spring dew on his face. Then, most often, he heads down to the beach for an early morning walk, to watch the surfers and to sit at the edge of the rocks to witness the waves crash onto the white sandy beach.
“There is always some movement and hustle at the beach with the morning joggers, bikers, and tourists walking and taking in the beautiful California coast line.â€
When he is over by Play Del Rey/LAX, he stops into the International House of Pancakes (IHOP), he says “I don’t care what time of day it is, I can eat pancakes and waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.â€
Kevin recalls how much he loves spending time with friends - eating out, running around L.A. looking for fun places to hear new bands and catch the sounds of edgy music, watching the Hollywood nights unfold. Laughing and just having a good time.
Kevin is not shy when he says, “many of my songs tell about the romantic life I live. Like finding the right girl, you know - one that loves you but doesn’t make you bleed. . . . Women are beautiful, and sometimes the right woman knows just how to get me wrapped around her little finger.â€
He continues his conversation, “the other day, I read this poem and it was quiet beautiful. I think it was about a man trying to tell a woman how he wants their relationship to go, a relationship that they haven’t even started, he wants it to - you know. . . to be - beautiful… like her.â€
The poem went like this . . .
My love,
It’s the beginning
the end not seen within my eyes,
stay with me -
Promise to be by my side
for I have tasted love
but never absorbed its flavor,
never questioned its reasoning-
You,
You are the soul of love -
The seed of the heart
that seeks for hearts to love . . .
“I can’t remember the rest - but, it was beautiful. Like that poem, I hope my music can speak to the heart. All I want is for people to hear the lyrics - the sound, and hopefully identify with the songs. What is most important are the thoughts people have when they hear the music, how the songs make them feel.â€
