I'm Matt. I'm the kinda guy who you sort-of-know. The person you see in your local club and wave and smile at, but don't actually have anything in particular to say to. I'd buy you a drink, but I seem to be about some other very important business, and oh-look-at-the-time - I've got to be somewhere undefined.
It has been pointed out to me that this kind of behaviour is more suited to a "Dave" than a "Matt", but my parents (who named me) weren't to know.
I am usually a Computer Analyst/Engineer/Developer, and end up spending probably 80% of my time dealing with computers, despite my frequent protestations. I studied Art, English and Maths at college, because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, and also because I love books, literature, and the artistic creative process. I took maths because it seemed like a sensible thing to do. It wasn't. I was considering taking Law for a degree, because I fancied the idea of all the research, reading, protocol and knowledge - in addition to the pay associated with Barristers. I didn't go to Uni in the end, because I was happy with my life at the time I was meant to go and didn't want to change it.
My mission in life is my own personal happiness. Hell, our subconcious motivations are all selfish (paraphrasing from someone... a little). I selfishly consider my friends happiness as an important part of my happiness. I used to tour with the band Area 54 as their Merchandise guy, which was great fun. For the future I intend to fashion a life in which I am self employed, running a music recording studio where I get to sit at my mixing desk wearing nothing but a cowboy hat, boots, and some baked-bean-stained underpants. Don't ask why.
I believe in the Big Bang. I don't believe that some mystical anthropomorphic super-being constructed reality as we see it, nor do I subscribe to any organised religion. What I fail to understand is how otherwise-intelligent people do. How can you explain existance as being the creation of an entity, but fail to explain that entity's creation (without resorting to meaningless tripe - EXPLAIN IT! IN REAL TERMS!)? I try not to hold it against them, though - people can do what they like, as long as it doesn't involve inflicting misery on other people.
To sum myself up, I'm a quiet, (often) thoughtful person with an love of the arts and technology, I'm obsessed with music, I like to try anything and know at least a bit about everything, and I have the organisational skills of a concussed hamster. Though that's still better than my friend Steve :P
