I've been singing since... i don't remember!
It's been a long time!
I began taking singing lessons at the age of 12.
With one of the greatest voice coaches in Utah!
Leah Stone of Charlie Pants Music at Dean Kaelin Studios.
I've done various recitals.
Although, none of which i played my own songs.
They were just for holidays and what not.
I sang a variety of different genres.
jazz was definitely a main one.
But as i started taking guitar lessons and doing covers for jewel, it made me realize how much i wanted to write her kind of music.
Jewel was a HUGE inspiration for me. and still is!
She is just absolutely amazing!
And also life... life was an inspiration to me.
when i was stressed, mad, sad, overly excited about something, bored, i turned to singing, or my guitar.
And you can only play so many covers before you get bored with them.
So, i began writing my first song.
It was unlike any feeling i had felt before.
I had never felt so... alive! (that was kinda cheesy! but true!)
And that's still how i feel when i'm singing my own songs.
It's the most AMAZING feeling EVER!
haha. i've never felt more accomplished!
ESPECIALLY with my demo recorded now!
I started taking guitar/songwriting classes from Leah about 2 years ago.
Unfortunately, the class only lasted about 6 months.
But by that time, i already knew the basic chords.
So, i just started writing my own songs.
My first song, i haven't recorded yet.
I'm not completely confident about it just yet.
But i'm working on it. I'ts called Rock Bottom.
I wrote it for a very good friend.
This one is not like the rest of my songs.
It doesn't follow the same pattern of writing that i usually write about.
In other words, it's not about a boy! haha.
I am hoping to perfect that soon, though.
and get it recorded!
I plan on staying solo for awhile.
I have no interest in really starting a band or anything.
but i would REALLY love to do a duet with Jill Sobule!
she is a very big inspiration to me, as well!
she's amazing!
And that's about it for me! not that it was short or anything! :P
