BORN MICHAEL THOMAS IN 1979 FROM A SMALL COMMUNTIY IN UNA,MS. THE SON OF A BLACK PREACHER AND BLACK ACTIVIST.RAISED IN MARSTON CRT HOUSING PROJECTS,AT DA AGE OF 12 JOINED THE CHICAGO BASED GANG THE INSANE VICE LORDS. DUE TO THIS COMPLEX HISTORY A FORM OF MUSIC BLENDING MILITANT LYRICS AND STREET REALITY GAVE BIRTH TO THIS UNIQUE FORM OF DOWN SOUTH HIP HOP. WHICH IS A NOW A GIANT FORCE TO BE WRECKIN WITH ON THE SOUTHERN MUSIC SCENE.Born Michael Angelo Thomas A.K.A. Doughbelly Stray, In West Point Mississippi .The story of this country boy’s fight to the top of as full of variety, and color as a pot of gumbo. The only child born to a father who was a Baptist Minster, and a Mother heavily involved in the black economic empowerment phase pf the late 70's Doughbelly would forever be surrounded by the two main elements that would forever forge his musical Talents, religion, and politics. When his parents divorced in the early 80's, the idea family became an unstable dream that caused him to become close to his Material grandmother. A simple woman with a sharecropper background, her straight talk, and southern true-to-life wisdom gave Doughbelly the Swagger of a Delta Bluesman, and the charm of a Dark- skinned Clark Gable. These essential skills were then top with a natural bass filled voice that earned him the nickname “preacher” in elementary school. Its hard to believe but the house Doughbelly spent so many summers in with his grandmother didn’t even Have an indoor toilet and this was in 84. So his grandmother was forced to move to the city for better housing in a government -run project known has Marston Courts. During the early 90's this move would open a whole different book on the man Doughbelly stray would become. In 1988-1996 Gang Violence would become a new and menacing terror throughout rural towers, and cites in the sleepy south West Point was no exception. The children and grandchildren of blacks migrating from the south for mid -west cites like Chicago return to the land of their mother’s and father’s with tried, and true criminal skills that most police in the south knew nothing about . He’s a member of the Insane Vice Lords Doughbelly used these skills to make a living out of everything from drug dealing, to gun running. After dropping out of school due to several run-ins with teachers, and police Doughbelly jumped head first into the streets a leap he would almost not survive. For almost five years he watch the never ending parade of child hood friends being murdered, or sent to prison ,while crooked politician smoked cigars, and reaped the beliefs of illegal drug trade. With the only voice he had, music, he began to write songs that address the problem knowing that there was a better life waiting on him he told the gang he wanted out. With little disapproval he was granted release from his duties has a street souljah and set out to save his people. Banding together with other local rappers, and ex-dope boys one of MS.
