About Me

Güten tag! Thanks for checking out my profile! I'm actually a little older than it says, but MySpace doesn't let me go back far enough. Damn technology! Some people tell me that I'm a bit melancholic, but they just haven't taken the time to get to know me. I don't really travel all that much and I'm sort of old fashioned, but I try to find time to do the things that matter most to me. I like to write poetry because it helps me to deal with the bigger issues that are weighing on my mind like how to best describe the phenomenological essence of instrumental being. Sometimes I get a bit anxious about things, but I'll just listen to a little Bach or David Bowie to blow off a little steam--personally, I think the Beatles are overrated. I've written a couple of books, but I've changed my mind about some stuff as time goes on. I'm not saying I was wrong about anything, just that I've changed my mind, alright? I don't really know what else to say about myself... my friend Eugen says I need to relax a bit more, but how will I ever figure this Nietzsche thing out if I do? I mean, where the hell does he fit in the freakin' story? I mean, on th one hand it seems like he's breaking with the tradition, but on the other... Sorry about that, I get carried away whenever "HE" gets mentioned. Anyhow, you know what they say: "Together with the sober Angst that brings us before our individualized poteniality-for-being, goes the unshakable joy in this possibility!"

To all you "Mr. Belvedere" haters!

So you think I look like Mr. Belvedere? Have you ever considered that they chose an actor that looked like me in order to underline the deeply seated Heideggerian themes of the sitcom? C'mon, folks,...

Neo-Nazis? Pleeze.

Ok, let's get something straight: I've cut the ties with the Nazis once the people's movement turned into the murderous progression of technology. You can think you understand me, you can think you ...

Feel my wrath!

As you all know, I have a slight aversion to technology. Let's be clear, the problem is not with machines and what not themselves, but rather with the ways in which they relate to our lives. As a co...

The collapsing of worlds

So winter comes once more to the Schwartzwald, and I find myselfhewing wood for warmth. Truly, I am getting old for such activities. Perhaps I shall have my student Müller-Lauter come to do it for m...

The Incident

Today Eugen came over to the cottage and we walked into town to enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio of our favorite cafe. We were having a pleasant enough conversation, chit-chatting about Hermann and...

Angst

When it grips at your being, there is no way to avoid staring into the nothing and realizing the inherent meaninglessness of existence. This is not to say that existence is without meaning, simply th...

Marriage trouble

My wife Elfrida has been a real pain in the ass lately. All she ever talks about is how she used to get invited to the finest balls and she used to live in the lap of luxury, but now she stuck out ...
