About Me
Check out the reincarnation of the Disliked, New Castle's very own Dead City Dealers !! Go to our NEW PAGE and send us a friend request, shithead. Our city might be dead, but we ain't yet!!
Imagine a band with the the energy of The Unseen and the Exploited, the presence of the Sex Pistols and the Dead Boys, and the simplicity of the Ramones, Crass, and early Black Flag. Factor in the presence of a female screamer at the forefront, and you've got one unique band. Hailing from the rural outskirts of New Castle, Pennsylvania, in an area affectionately known as Zombieland, the Disliked are a five-piece sucker punch to all of the mediocre rock acts currently dominating the local club circuit.
Let's just get one thing straight: The Disliked are a punk band. Yes, that's right, punk rock, and we're not talking about bands like Good Charlotte, Lit, New Found Glory, or even Green Day. The Disliked is not a pop band. Nothing we write is intricate in the least. We are simplicity at its finest, and unapollogetically so. The Disliked's power lies in it's energy and strength as a unit. We play 3 or 4 chords per song. Sometimes more, but rarely. The drummer bashes out four-on-the-floor beats, and the two guitarists play in a tuning designed for a monkey to play. But from the first chord, it's a wall of beautiful noise that you swear might fall to pieces at any moment, but it never does. It just keeps on coming.
None of us will probably ever be labelled as a "sex symbol". We're not about "shakin' it" on stage. We don't wear costumes, have choreographed dances, or come up with comedy routines to fill out our set. But guess what. We're real. And we're going to stay that way whether people like it or not.
Music shouldn't be about competition. There's too much of that already in our daily lives. Our goal is to start a scene, a real scene. We want a sense of community. Bands are supposed to support each other, not crap all over each other, or their fans for that matter. We play for the love of doing it, and to entertain the people who love what we're doing as much as we do. Not for money, not for fame, but to get as many people as we can into our music and hopefully never let them down.
Our new EP, Used Girl Parts, is 5 tracks of pure, unrelenting punk rock pandemonium. From the opening title track (a song about taking cosmetic surgery to new extremes), to the chaotic grand finale, PA Zombie Brigade (a song that gives more than an obvious nod to George A. Romero's classic of the Dead film series), Used Girl Parts is a great representation of the heart and soul of the band, especially since everything was recorded live in the studio, with the exception of the vocals, which were overdubbed for clarity.
"[Used Girls Parts] stands as a document of its times, and will be forever tied to the events from which it came. Dealing with such varied and complex topics as beauty culture, exploitation, fraudulence, and even cannibalism, the Disliked themselves may not even realize the social relevance that their music carries." --Sam Sinister
The Disliked: we're taking over. Whether you like it or not.
We're here to start a new scene. The local scene's been overrun by the same type of music for too long and it's time for a change. Punk rock needs to be represented and we're the only ones who are gonna step up to the plate.
We play for the punks, even if that means only for ourselves. So be it.
