Antonis Rellas was born in Athens, Greece, in 1971. In 1989, he obtained the degree of programmer-analyst. In 1993, he graduated from the Stavrakos Film School with a diploma in directing. During the same year, and after being involved in a road accident, he lost his left leg and the motion capability of his left hand. He worked in one of the major private TV networks in Greece from 1990 to 2005. Initially he was employed as an assistant director in the news and entertainment departments. He then worked for 7 years as director/editor in the department of on air promotion/trailers. What he likes to remember the most from his career in the media sector is the national broadcast of the first television programme on disability in 1994. In 1992 he made a short film titled “The Nail†and then the documentary films “I’ m alive†(1997), “Waves of the Aegean" (2005) and "Kalisti Thira" (2006). He has also made commercials, music videos, experimental videos and digital animations for theatrical and musical shows. He is involved in the organization of the annual Documentary Festival on Disability EMOTION PICTURES.
