About Me

Martin Eden used to be a guy.Now he's a band.

...as tends to happen with solo albums that you then want to try to play live. After playing drums for a decade in three Boston bands, I got an analog eight-track deck and decided to finally actually learn to play guitar, and pretty soon I ended up with a solo album, if two years can be considered "pretty soon." The whole punk aesthetic deal, too: five chords total used on it; drum machine because it's hard to record real drums in a third-floor apartment in Allston; etc. etc. So for the album, Martin Eden was me, but for the band, it's nobody. It's like the name "Jethro Tull," although I probably shouldn't use that particular analogy unless I follow it up with Disclaimer: We don't sound like Jethro Tull any more than Guided By Voices do. Then I should probably also do a Disclaimer: We don't sound like Guided By Voices either. (Getting into at least the same ballpark, though.) Who does it sound like? I was shooting for Died Pretty using Bob Mould's guitar amp. I don't know. Anyway, play the album and see who you think it sounds like. Hopefully, it sounds like me. Or us. Whichever. It's hard to think about music right now since the guy in the apartment downstairs from me is playing a '70's station really loud...
