Founded in 1979 by students at Loyola University Medical School, the Chicago Westside Condors have a long-standing tradition of excellence in the Chicago Area Rugby Football Union, with consistent representation in Chicago and Midwest select sides, as well as the national U.S. Eagles squad. Due in part to superb coaching and to the raw talent of every player, the Condors enjoyed tremendous success in the 1997 through 2003 seasons, appearing twice in the National Final Four. In Fall 2003, after twenty-four years in Division II, the Condors were promoted to Division I, where, in less than a year, the team finished within the top 16 of the nation. The team has an eclectic make up, consisting of Americans, Irish folk, New Zealanders, doctors, students, lawyers, and general bums alike.
