About Me

Claire Boswell is a singer/ songwriter/ performer from Worcester, England. Singing since she could talk and song writing since the tender age of eleven, her haunting yet soulful, melodic voice combined with her easy on the eye looks fuels a powerful and confident performance. Her natural talent and song writing abilities evokes the long lost aura from the not so distant past, with subtle vocal and technical expertise reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris and Joan Baez. With a range of influences as diverse as The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Chickenshack to Glen Miller, it was only when she discovered the Folk-Rock scene of Crosby, Stills and Nash, America, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Neil Young that she felt something was lacking in her music and by thirteen had taught herself to play guitar. This was a small but progressive step in developing her distinctive and timeless sound.. NOTE TO FRIENDS:. Influences: Everything that goes on in my unimportant little life influences what i write, sing, play and do. Influence goes beyond music, art, creation, in consequence, action, love. And in the nothingness, my music will cease to resonate. Although i listen to an extensive variety of music, i guess these artists spring to mind more specifically than others when thinking of actual musical influences: Crosby Stills and Nash , Jackson Browne, Dusty Springfeild, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, John Mayall and the BluesBreakers, Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, Mick Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, America, Andrew Gold, Shania Twain, Neil Young, Tony Joe White, The Rolling Stones, Patsy Cline, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Bros, Clannad, Daniel Lanois, Goo Goo Dolls, Johnny Cash, The Zombies, Argent, Marianne Faithfull.. But i like other artists such as : Carly Simon, Nils Lofgren, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Pretenders, Bread, David Bowie, Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplansky, Paul Weller, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, The Little River Band, Rod Stewart, Mamas and Papas, Judy Collins, Canned Heat, Aerosmith, Peter Gabriel, Alter Bridge, The Mayfield Four, Jethro Tull, Brooks'n'Dunn, Gary Moore, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Iain Matthews, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lucinda Williams, Walter Trout and the Radicals, Dreamtheater, The Beatles, James Taylor, Elmore James, Albert King, Albert Lee, Alvin Lee, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Tommy Shaw, Status Quo, Glen Miller, The Faces, The Kinks, Loretta Lynn, Johann Strauss, Patricia Kaas, Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, George Formby, Vera Lynn, Dolly Parton, Creedance Clearwater, Celine Dion, Gershwin, Kris Kristofersson, Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, Tanya Tucker, Eurythmics, Bob Dylan, Howlin' Wolf, Little Milton, Hot Chocolate, Buddy Guy, Ravi Shankar, Little Walter, Cream, Free, Garrison Starr, Isaac Scott, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Julia Fordham, Alison Moyet, Led Zep, Lowell Fulson, The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Boxcar Willie, Wanda Jackson, Gene Allison, Big Bill Bronzy, Buddy Holly, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Days of the New, Phillip Glass, Steve Reich, Patti Scialfa, Alan Jackson, Martina Mcbride, Keith Urban, Big 'n' Rich, Mercury Rev, Josh Rouse, Rammstein but nothing too heavy listening.. Metallica and Pantera are ok too... i like some Bhangra too although I haven’t heard very much....Kuldip Manak, Chamkila, Malkit Singh, Surinder Kaur, Heera, Shinda Shonki, Surinder Shinda, Punjabi MC/ Hit Squad, Miss Pooja, Rani Randeep, Jassi Sidhu… It's also worth checking out the great artists i have in my top friends like Corinne Hermes , Manda and Da Vinci... =0)
Sounds Like: i don't try to sound like anyone, never have and never will although there are elements of artists i hold in high esteem which have rubbed off on my sound. I suppose musically it's a mish-mash of Folk-rock, West-coast, Easy-Listening, Country, Blues with a sprinkle of Jazz all held together by an acoustic guitar in the hands of a young Hippie girl who lives to sing and write songs.
