Good art. Getting back to my "roots", by which I mean theater. Learning to love a "real life" rather than a nomad life. Owning my emotions. Coffee shop talk and damn good music. Much, much more...
Nelson Mandela, Jeff Probst, & my future husband (if I don't already know him).
I saw this on some guys profile & thought it was a smart way to attempt to categorize something un-categorizable:
Top 20 Artists If I Had To Choose:
The Beatles, Radiohead, Tiesto, Dido, Ellis Paul, Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, The Postal Service, Belle & Sebastian, Air, Mafikizolo, Neko Case, Badly Drawn Boy, The Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Basement Jaxx, Beck, Turin Brakes, Zero 7, Jonathan Larson (Rent)
ultimate favorite album ever: Air - Moon Safari
not so into picking favorite movies: I don't really like watching movies over & over, I would rather see a new one than watch one again, unless it's a Christopher Guest movie (Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, Spinal Tap) - I can watch any of those repeatedley for many many hours. Oh yeah, and Super Troopers.
Survivor is my all-time fave (& I'm not ashamed, would love to be on it). Others that I like: most reality shows (I'm a reality whore), Sex & the City, Lost, the usual sitcoms
I absolutely love to read, one of my greatest pleasures in life. The list of my favorites is always changing, I guess depending on my mood & what's going on in my life. Some favorites: Harry Potter, anything by Jon Krakeaur, Bill Bryson, Connie Willis, Ayn Rand, almost anything by Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game is probably the best book I ever read as a 14-yr-old or as a 25-yr-old). Devil in The White City was amazing. I also really like Dan Savage's "Savage Love" sex column - I don't know if that really belongs in this category, but it's great. The world would be a much better place if everyone read (and respected!) the column & if everyone should follow Dan's advice to be a "Good, Giving & Game" lover.
Nelson Mandela is my "conventional" hero. My unconventional heroes are few specific people I've met in my life who have really made me re-evaluate who I am & what life is for & about. These people probably don't even know the effect they've had on my life, but they have significantly changed it for the better.
