About Me

View Marcia Barnes's EPKFall, 2006Now 20, Marcia is back in Canada and determined to pursue her music career. Yes, she did make the difficult decision to leave Jacksonville State University in Alabama, a place she called home for the past two years, but not without overwhelming support from her faculty and peers—some of her biggest fans! Although a dedicated member of the college tennis team and having achieved recognition on the President's Honor List in both her freshman and sophomore year, Marcia felt the need to take a year off from life as a student/athlete in order to focus on her music.Marcia's unique talent has been prevalent from a very early age. At 13, only a few months after beginning classical piano and voice lessons, she wrote and recorded her first song, "Later Years." Since then, Marcia has recorded many wonderful, original songs—mostly jazz-inspired—with a number of studio producers and engineers, and has been the star attraction of countless shows and competitions. In the spring of 2006, Marcia won 1st place at the JSU Star, Jacksonville State University's annual talent show.Back in university, in addition to being a member of a diverse tennis team, Marcia was given the privilege to live at the International House on campus, where she was introduced to an exciting world of new cultures and languages—a world she lets you experience through her music. Also, opportunities to travel to France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, and other Latin countries put her in contact with many new genres of music. As a result, Marcia now composes in four languages: English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.Although she is a natural jazz musician, this summer Marcia decided to explore her cultural roots and challenged herself to learn the secrets of Latin music. After less than five months, she finished recording My Latin Roots, her much awaited, debut album. The project came together with the help of a great team of international musicians, including Colombian musician and co-producer Luis Ariel Rey. Marcia is already working on her next jazzy/pop recording, This Is My Soul Talking, due for release this summer 2007.Marcia Barnes' artistic palette is immensely rich. She is a singer, a songwriter, a piano player, and now a producer of her latest, HOT release, My Latin Roots. Today, this rising songstress already has a large, national and international fan base, and the numbers are growing…Marcia's Debut Album "My Latin Roots" Available Online NowClick Here To Buy In CanadaClick Here To Buy In USAClick Here To Buy In All Other Countries
