Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Steven Robinson is recognized by his peers, and musical collaborators as one of the most significant young drummers of his generation. With the attention of musical giants such as Rickey Minor, Teddy Campbell, John Blackwell, Jr., and Bootsy Collins, it is no doubt that this particular young drummer will take the music and drumming worlds by storm.
Steven was born into the church, to which a lot of his experience behind a set of drums is rooted. As he got older, and more experienced as a performer, he used his church upbringing to set him apart, and keep him different. Although his drumming is originally church and gospel influenced, Steven has succeeded in the art of versatility, allowing him to blend in many types of music including: R&B, soul, pop, big band, straight-ahead jazz, funk, rock, hard rock, reggae, and Latin.
Throughout his career Steven has received numerous awards and accolades celebrating is gift. A few including an article bio in Drum! Magazine, the Louis Armstrong Jazz award, and an appearance on KHTS 1220 radio. However, through out all of Steven’s success as a drummer, he will never stop learning, and being a student to the art of drumming. Most importantly, Steven will stay true to his upbringing, and remember that his gift comes from the heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. For it is from him, where all gifts and talents come.
Steven, now a Los Cabos Drumsticks endorsee, is currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts. He is supplying the groove for pop icon SMT, R&B artist Devin Johnson, gospel artist Dayshawn Mojica, R&B/Soul band Aftershock, and many other artists on the east coast of the United States.Steven Robinson
