About Me

Darren Motamedy has played with the Rippingtons, Kenny G, David Lanz, Greg Adams from Tower of Power, and has opened for Chris Botti, Michael Lington, Tower of Power, Larry Carlton....Dmo has done it......As well as the accolades.......Certainly one of the highlights for saxophonist Darren Motamedy included his performance with “The Rippingtons” during their northwest tour to Seattle, as well as sharing the smooth jazz 98.9 stage at Chateau St. Michelle with pianist David Lanz. Fans saw Darren Motamedy and his band this year as well in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and opening for trumpeter Chris Botti in the Tri-cities. "We performed for more fans this summer than in any year" Motamedy proudly exclaims.Motamedy’s body of musical compositions have continued to grow with his 2005 release, “Intimate". This 11 composition recording features orchestral stylings blended with world beat, modern jazz, and a melodic theme that will capture your thoughts and allow you to drift to a private place. "The positive feedback with this recording gives me confidence that I am on the right musical path!", says Motamedy. 2004 was the release of "Smooth jazz, The Best Of Darren Motamedy”. “Fans constantly ask for “my best” work, and I feel that all of my CD's reflect "the best". I compare myself to the number one smooth jazz artists around the world and I won't release a CD until I feel that it equals or exceeds the "best" smooth jazz out there". Hence, “The Best Of” is now released featuring works from Motamedy’s two jazz albums of the year, plus hot compositions from out of print collector edition CD’s released in '89 and '92. "This CD Grooves”........And features Motamedy’s hot and sultry version of Europa.2002's "Relax Your Mind" CD has been a very popular record with fans, and of course 1999's jazz album of the year "It's All Good" is Motamedy's personal favorite.1994's CD "Dangerously Close" has been re-mastered and has new and updated artwork. this album has been out of stock for about 6 months due to it's popularity, and is now back in circulation! With Darren's new 2007 release "Don't Cha Know" by far, fans acclaim this record as the best in Motamedy's collection. Number 4 on the INDIE charts, Motamedy's 9th Record is the real deal! The somewhat prophetically entitled "Dont' Cha Know" is poised to take it to the next level. Contemporary urbanville fueled in no small part by Motamedy's fluency in rhythm and funk while sharing many of the credits is John Raymond, another staple on the Seattle scene who has toured and recorded with Kenny G. In particular, you'll want to check the album's namesake, the title track "Don't Cha Know." Great playing, has a potent melody, and a killer groove.... That's "Don't Cha Know" from Darren Motamedy!"I have always marveled at the greatness of my grandfather Ali Motamedy. His hope was for a peaceful world, and he worked for his vision while he was the ambassador to the first league of nations, as well as his ambassadorship to Canada and The Hauge while he lived in Iran.""My father was a pediatrician and healed children through his gift of life.""My goal is to continue to bring people of all cultures and ethnic backgrounds together through my gift of music. Music is the healing language of all mankind, and I hope that my small contribution brings peace, joy, and happiness to your hearts! I am proud of my heritage as an Iranian, and am proud to be born and raised in the beautiful United States of America. I wish you all love.""Jazz Is Love"-Dmo
