Malissa Redmond is the Movement!

About Me

Malissa Redmond is one of the newest rising stars in the gospel industry. With an impassioned vocal presence and her debut full-length album in tow, the Brooklyn native plans to bring a fresh anointing and vibrant sound to gospel music. On the other hand, ministry and music are nothing new to this seasoned performer who has moved countless audiences as a minister, worship leader, stage artist and recording artist. "Being all of these things gives me the opportunity to reach more people in different venues," she says of her multiple gifts. "Therefore, I am not limited." Malissa hopes for audiences to experience the love of the Lord through relatable, real life messages and a sound running the gamut from young, bouncy beats to ripe, spiritual worship. As Malissa embarks on her journey as an upcoming recording artist, her résumé stands out as a remarkable one. She cultivated her gift in church very early on singing with her sisters and directing choirs. Further developing her craft, she starred in the Off Broadway plays "From Crack to Christ" and "Feminine Fire" at the Apollo and Lambs Theatres. Malissa is currently a praise and worship leader at the 28,000-member Christian Cultural Center in her native Brooklyn, New York, and as an active member of the church's traveling choir, she has ministered throughout the US, as well as Austria, Australia and in Italy. Additionally, Malissa has performed with a long list of renowned gospel music talent including Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell, Patti Labelle and Byron Cage, even opening up for the "Sisters in the Spirit" tour which included her musical peers Juanita Bynum, Yolanda Adams, Kelly Price, and Martha Munizzi.Looking forward, the future is blessed and bright for this shining talent. Many have already been touched by her God-given abilities through venues like Trinity Broadcast Network, The Today Show, Bobby Jones Gospel, Carnegie Hall, and Gospel Super Fest, but Malissa looks to broaden her scope of spectators as she storms the gospel music world in 2008. Recently, Malissa even sang background vocals for Cheryl "Salt" James, formerly of the group "Salt & Pepa," on her forthcoming gospel album. Additionally, her debut singles "My Strength" and "Holy Spirit" (CCCMG) undeniably forecast the many great things to come from this anointed artist on the rise.
