PULSE Records

About Me

PULSE Records started out in 2002 as a small interest-joined group of people attending the same Art High School in sea-side town Constantza (Romania). Underground emcee Tranda together with his best friend Protone (hip hop producer) coined the name (PULSE Records) at the end of 2002, hoping that they could bring together under the same label a bunch of people who activated (effectively or not) in the hip hop sphere. The name was, in the beginning, far from being a strategic tag, but rather an emblem for the spirit and love of hip hop, a genre of music that crawled into Romania in small, but highly involved groups. D’strictz (emcee Gambit and femcee Rogue) were the firsts to adhere to the independent label symbol and continue till present day. The first activities of the label were sparse but fertile: effortful albums recorded under dreadful conditions, hundreds of notebooks with lyrics, ideas and open mic sessions at local bars. In the preceding years, new members were to arrive: soul singer Georgiana Toma, and immediately after, a cluster of talented and skillful emcees that were activating in the same region as the Pulse Squad, unfortunately the two “gangs” hardly knew anything about each other. After countless discussions and the cheerful understanding that they share the same ideals and opinions in music, the group Proceduri Aparte and emcee Martor Ocular joined the label. Last, but not least, in the group is Venus, a talented emcee from Turnu Severin, who intently blessed the crew with his presence. The discography material of the PULSE crew is rather large, but worthy of mentioning are Tranda’s solo effort “Rezolutia” (The Resolution), Rogue’s first solo album “Mentally Dissected” and, the newly released PE ZONA (On the Spot), who is considerably the most complex and tight shit ever to bless the community. See you ON THE SPOT. ( Ne vedem PE ZONA)

Band Members: Tranda

Both a vicious emcee and a tight producer, Tranda activates in hip hop since back in 2002. With a remarkably smooth style, Tranda’s voice and lyrics are not separate but rather complete each other in a dynamic congruence. He powerfully rips the mic sucking the audience inside the embroidery of his mind and spirit. Tranda is no fancy boy; he’s street material, spiting undisimulated truths in a colloquial fashion and riding the tracks with a memorable flavor that’s always refreshing and innovative.

Protone

Considered one of the best producers in the crew, Protone knows his stuff when it comes to music. With a rhythmically trained ear, Protone could master any kind of beat and compose whatever he sets his mind to. Largely influenced by the west coast style, Protone brings in Romania that west-ish flavor that is very much lacking these days. Having a mature apprehension of the inextricably interweaving of musical notes, Protone uses his innate talent and the experience accumulated during many years of practice to construct highly refined and complex sound structures that obliges the spirit to a ride into the intricate layers of soulful instruments.

Proceduri Aparte

Daniel and Alex, the two emcees that make up the group Proceduri Aparte are remarkably diverse in terms of flow, pace and style. Daniel, known for his peculiar voice and distinct unhurried pace, induces the listener in a trance-like mood, kicking powerful punches and truthful bits of reality. Daniel does no turning back; his rhymes come from the soul. He dismantles the idea of an earthly utopia and ejects dense lyrics of sharp truths plucked from his personal sphere of wordily interaction. His use of language is not meaningless clatter but authentic feeling and thought. Alex on the other hand, kicks back in a more relaxed fashion, stringy punching cool lyrics, always trying to disentangle his threads of thought and coherently modeling them into stanzas of pure fire.

Venus

Venus is what we like to call the new school emcee. His overly tranquil voice seems to perfectly fit the hip hop funk style, while the authentic lyrics and the individual flow constitutes the lacking ingredient in PULSE Records’ area of styles and genres. His personal tone tends to provide a sort of confessional dimension to his featured tracks, as a result there is not one Venus track that does not carry his array of experience and life studies.

Georgiana Toma

When it comes to female voices in rap, there’s no doubt Georgiana Toma is the best selection. Punching with a trip hop flavor, aiming towards a jazzy-funk approach, the girl knows what she’s doing in front of the mic. A soothing voice, that can be fit for any track, alters the mood and reconstructs the tune, giving it the soul and character needed.
