About Me

the singer/songwriter music that goes by the name FRED NEWMAN is pop in a wide sense, but hopefully in the best one. very personal, sometimes enthusiastic, sometimes desperate, sometimes cynical, sometimes naive, the songs are meant to be songs, not display of instrumental virtuosity. it's all about the atmosphere, isn't it. without it we'd all suffocate, freeze, and die.
these days, this character named FRED NEWMAN is being used more frequently for various soundtrack from theatre productions as made in nürnberg, bochum, erlangen and graz. it's not songs there, but music composed for regular plays, not opera or the like. so it's soundtrack-music, atmospherics, weird sounds and long reverb. music to create images in these heads we call ours.
and: sometimes this FRED NEWMAN writes songs for someone else, like jazz guitarist and singer torsten goods on his latest album 1980.
rumours creep around whispering of a band revival, playing all those songs that it played before, and those (especially on bootleg three) that have never been played. i don't believe in rumours unless i see them.
