About Me

Dedicated to keeping the art of big hair alive for last 20 years and probably responsible for the disappearence of the o-zone due to exccessive use of hairspray. Loves being squeezed into corsets. Born & bred in Middlesbrough UK. 1976 was a special year for many with arrival of punk. I was already showing signs of rebellion by getting banned from ballet lessons at the age of 4. The teacher quoted to my mother "Melanie will only dance the way she wants to dance and not the way I want her to dance". Guess I was wanting to dance to a different song. After a mis-spent adolescence listening to The Damned and Bauhaus, dressing a bit weird and putting up with verbal abuse from narrow-minded small town attitudes, at the age of 18 was seduced by the bright lights of Leeds I was soon hot on the heels of the patchouli oil vapour trails of the Leeds Goth scene. Spent some time living in squats around LS6, surviving on a diet of Marlborough Lites, drinking cider & black at The Duchess (RIP), Fenton, and the Pig N Whistle, became a regular doing the 2-step Goth shuffle in the sonic temple of Goth known as The Phono. After someone stole my heart and then gave it back to me in pieces, I got itchy feet and ended up in Manchester working as an editorial assistant for custom motorcycle mag Back Street Heroes. 1 year later I returned to my adopted Yorkshire, had a series of mind numbingly dull jobs and not to mention a very short-lived marriage, made a huge decision to go to Uni and get my degree - something I should have done 10 years ago. Well I've done that now and life's never been better. Cherished soulmate to Mr Adrenochrome. Proud owner of 1 Ducati Monster 600 and 3 kitty kats. Currently taking a sabatical from bass-playing with legendary goth-meisters Momento Mori (UK). Residing between Teesside and The Midlands trying to make a living doing what I enjoy as a creative image maker - specialising in alternative lifestyle photography and design. Occasional freelance work for 100% Biker mag, gig photographer and providing creative work for The Skeletal Family and Lowlife(UK)...
