!Ragnhild Furebotten is an interpreter and communicator of the folk music of Northern Norway, and is one of few folk musicians from this part of the country. She is well known as a musician, composer, and performing fiddler first and foremost as a member of the group Majorstuen. Ragnhild finished her education at the Norwegian Music Acadamy in 2004 and has since then been working as a musician in "Culture in Troms" and as a freelance musician both in Norway an abroad.
As well as performing solo, she works extensively in several groups such as Majorstuen, Fotefar, Hekla Stålstrenga and with the guitarplayer Tore Bruvoll. She has also enjoyed collaborations with dancers and storytellers, and in august 2007 she is composer for a danceperformance at the festival Kalottspel.
Ragnhild was awarded the price “Spelemannsprisen†together with the group “Majorsten†for best folkmusic-album 2003, chosen as “Young Artist†at the “Festspillene i Nord- Norge†the summer of 2006, and in the autumn of 2006 she was awarded the “Arvid Hansen†scholarship for young artists. The comment of the jury: “Ragnhild is a carrier of tradition with an element of strong modern way of thinking. Intensity, virtuosity and musical nerve characterizes her musical expression."
In september 2007 Ragnhild released her debut solo album with "Ragnhild Furebotten trio"
