Wendy Wood

Born in Newcastle NSW, Australian songwriter Wendy Wood discovered early in life a love of Country Music. Moved to Tamworth and joined the Tamworth Songwriters' Association in 1996.Wendy became actively involved in the organisation, becoming secretary in 1998. She has enjoyed success as a songwriter over the years with numerous finalist nominations and placings in various songwriting competitions, including the TSA National Country Songwriting Contest Amateur Section winner in 1997 with her song "Country Music Radio", and 1999 Charters Towers Song Competition winner. Wendy's first big break came with inclusion of two of her songs on the first TSA Country Song Search Winners album.
In 2000 she became one of the founding members of a female harmony trio called "Those Gals".Along with Carolyne Morris and Kerry Walsh "Those Gals" have been performing together for almost 8 years. Singing mostly around New South Wales at clubs, pubs, weddings and charity functions. Wendy is still involved with the Tamworth Songwriters' Association where she has been on the executive committee for 12 years where she is now the Vice -President and Publicity Co-Ordinator.
She was awarded Life Membership of the TSA in January 2007 for services to the associaiton.
In January 2008 Wendy's song "A Bell Is Ringing Out In Beaconsfield" was nominated for Country Ballad Of The Year at the Tamworth Songwriters Associations Salute Awards
