About Me
Farbror Bröst was a legendary swedish gospel singer. He travelled round Sweden and Finland between the sixties up until the late eighties. He never did any recordings on a label, but some authentic live recordings do exist. Farbror Bröst was a religious man, but sometime in the late seventies he strayed from the narrow path, and had some wild years which involved swedish housewives, alcohol and experimental gospel music in strange secluded communities, deep in the swedish woods. The three young men (Farbror Olek, Farbror Svettis, Farbror Franko) formed a band, based upon Farbror Bröst..s life and doings, during the summer of 2003. The idea emerged on a summers night, when a Farbror Bröst follower, Ellen G. Foros (the poet), flashed her bare chest, and led us all in to temptation. We focused all our energy on our interpretations of obscure live recordings from Farbror Bröst's wild years.
The performance group Farbror Bröst (No/Swe) are experimenting with sexuality, all sorts of engines, video art, christianity, music and heavy drinking. Our aim is (besides telling the story of Farbror Bröst, the preacherman and great lover) to bring joy and happiness to the audience, and let them relax their brains in such a way that they want to join the Farbror Bröst spirit and take part in the show. The band puts a lot of energy into the conserts, so we have to take several breakes during our shows. This gives the audience an opportunity to drink more and enjoy eachother, and it is absolutely necessary for us to fokus on drinking and frantic praying for some minutes.
At present time we are not booked anywhere, so if you have a festival going on, pleace contact us. Just remember that we have to be one of the headliners and preferably the last band playing.
At our last gig(summer 2006, Forfattersentrums; Litterært hageselskap), we couldn't manage to do our stunning video installations because of the bright norwegian nights. Happily the great vocalists Siri Gjære and Eldbjørg Raknes gave the audience a good time instead of this. The Karsk(coffee and moonshine) fountain illuminated the audience while Olek lay down the beat on the Christ icon. Our beloved fans could also spend time praying, drinking and having sex by the reconstruction og Farbror Bröst's very own transportable alter (video installation inside our VW Transporter 1983).
At our very last gig (August 4. 2007) we focused on healing, drinking, love and joy. Farbror Olek made the fantastic "Å herregud" sign (meaning "oh mygod"). As usual one of Farbror Svettis' cars were used as a part of the video installation. The "Karskfontene" (a fountain with a mix of moonshine and coffee) were available for the audience and the Farbror Bröst members. (We all ended up completely damaged the day after). In the concert we got help from these great musichans: Magnus Loddgard, Stig Rennehaug, Lena Nymark, Erlend Olav Bjørkøy. Thank you, guys! Torfinn Borkhus starred in the show as well. Beside playing the guitar, he also took part in making the uneatable aspiks. Thank you, Torfinn. You're inside now. From Iran came Sæba Bajoghli. She turned as all away from the shame an gave us persian love by giving us her very special gospel performed in her own language. Farbror Franco translated the nice persian words. Thanks to Iran for letting us have Sæba! Thanks to Sæba for what you are and what you gave the audince that night! Guys- this was one of our best gigs ever. Don't miss the next. God bless you!
