About Me

I'm seeing a wonderful man who makes me happy, so don't ask me to have dinner, drinks, or anything else unless you're just looking for a friend. I'm on here trying to meet women in my area to be friends with (very hard), and the occasional male friend--gay guys are cool too!
If you send me a friend request and don't have the time or intellect to compose a message to accompany it, I won't feel obligated to check out your profile. I'll just delete you.
My "friends" are really my friends, I'm not on here to win a popularity contest or rack up 50 pages of friends. If that's your bag, have at it, but every month or so I delete any "friend" I haven't talked to in a while. If you're a trophy hunter looking to add chicks to your collection, move along or I'll sic my boyfriend on you. ;-)
I love animals. I have dogs, cats, and used to have saltwater fish. I love to do anything outdoors or in/around water. I crave the ocean and beaches. I am a licensed SCUBA diver and have been so for around 16 years. I love to ride horses. I cook, I knit, I sew, I camp, fish, drink beer, garden, take the trash out, and perform minor home improvements/repair. I can also dress up and go to the ballet or a fine restaurant--I know which fork to use. I love wine festivals, but I freely admit that while I know which wine is good, I like bad wine. I can fit in anywhere and talk to anyone if sufficiently motivated--if you stay tuned, I'll even throw in a set of Ginsu knives. I am a good listener, I mostly give good advice, and I appreciate receiving advice. I have low tolerance for posers and assholes. I spent a lot of time around rich spoiled brats growing up, so I don't have a lot of patience with people who throw their money around as a substitute for personality. I am not easily impressed.
I'll answer any question put to me. I will tell you exactly what I think of you, so don't ask me if you look fat in those pants. You may not like my opinion, but you'll get it. I am appallingly honest and hate liars. I am fairly liberal and tolerant. Although I love a good debate, I'll agree to disagree. I am utterly loyal and will make my friends' battles my own as long as they reciprocate. If you want to get into a bar brawl, I've got your back. If someone hurts anyone I love, I will tell them how I feel about it and I will pick sides. I will walk away and never look back if you piss me off.
I love music, mostly melodic hard rock, and am happiest at concerts and rock shows. I used to play clarinet and guitar: it's not hard, get over it. I love to read and have a hard time supplying my "reading habit" with new material. I went to art school and have a degree in illustration so I dabble in artsy fartsy stuff from time to time as well.
I like hockey and football, and I (try to) work out everyday in my home gym. I hate shopping and don't give a rat's ass about shoes, but I do like pink, jewelry, and manicures.
I have no use for glommers or soulsuckers. Friendship should be like a see-saw: one up/one down, taking turns holding the other one up there and enjoying the ride. Oh, I love rollercoasters too!
From the "family" Christmas photos session.
I created my own profile using my own photography and nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too! MySpace Contact Box from ModMyProfile.com

My Interests

Pretty much anything and everything. Live music, movies, gardening, cooking, I enjoy wine festivals, home improvement, sports, *love* to read--in fact I'm almost always in the middle of a book. Anything to do with animals, travel, dancing, working out, you name it. I'll try anything once.

I'd like to meet:

Men or women in the NoVa area who are straightforward, honest, and grounded and who understand that being a "friend" is a two-way street, and who want to enjoy life and have fun.

Music:

It would take too long. I have eclectic taste and I just like what I like. The main thing is DEF LEPPARD.

Movies:

The Upside of Anger; LOTR Trilogy; Snatch; Bourne series; Highlander; Pitch Black; Bridget Jones; The Sweetest Thing; Thief of Hearts, anything Eddie Izzard, Must Love Dogs, Princess Mononoke.

Television:

CSI (Las Vegas), Medium, Eureka, and Dead Like Me. Sex and the City was great when that was on.

Books:

Favorite authors are: Anne McCaffrey, C.J. Cherryh, Patricia McKillip, Jonathan Kellerman, John MacDonald, and Robert Crais.I prefer Sci-Fi/Fantasy but also am heavily into murder-mysteries. I'm always reading something--but it's usually fiction; I can turn on the TV news for real life.

Heroes:

My dad.
