I'll try anything once ...

About Me

Corporate slave, procrastinating thesis writer, sometime comic improviser, one-time musician and mediocre (but enthusiastic) Scrabble player.

My Interests

Useless information.

Music:

In no particular order and by no means comprehensive ... Air, Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Suede, Elastica, Rammstein, I Am, Scissor Sisters, The Strokes, The Donnas, Split Enz, The Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, Jimmy Eat World, The Stone Roses, Missy Elliott, Blur, Placebo, Kings of Leon, Gomez, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Grape, Joy Division, Underworld, New Order, Everything but the Girl, The Cat Empire, The Cure, Beck, The Pogues, Manic Street Preachers, Ocean Colour Scene, Chemical Brothers, PJ Harvey, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The White Stripes ... more to come.

Movies:

Always a hard one but here's a few ...The Godfather (I & II): So many moments ... Michael Corleone kissing his brother before having him murdered, the poisoned cannoli, killing the heads of the five families in one hit (yes, pun intended) ... so much more than just the horse's head.Apocalypse Now: Coppola makes a great movie. Robert Duvall makes this movie for me. Don't waste your time with the Redux version ... there's a reason why those scenes ended up on the editing room floor the first time. The Princess Bride: It started out as a crush on Cary Elwes and turned into a love affair with one of my favourite movie quotes ... "Hello, my name is Innigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."Lost in Translation: This movie made me fall in love with Japan and Bill Murray. Well written, subtle and very funny. Proof that Sofia Coppola should forget about acting and stick to directing. The Outsiders: The 80s Brat Pack before they were the Brat Pack. Matt Dillon when he was dark and moody, Tom Cruise in a bit part, Patrick Swayze before he got Baby out of the corner and Ralph Macchio pre Karate Kid. Leather, Brylcreem and cut off shirts ... I love it every time.

It's December? You're kidding ... where did the year go?

Holy crap, it's December. Somehow, when I wasn't looking, the tribe of trolls who guard the passage of time turned the M2006 into an autobahn. Last time I looked it was January and I was promising th...
