Mikz was born and spent the first quarter of his life in the northern villages of Trinidad. In his early years he was highly influenced by the rhythmic and energetic sounds of soca and calypso music.
In 1989 Mikz and his family moved to St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada where he first heard a full range of musical genres. His uncle was a music enthusiast and music was on constant play in the house. On any given day you could hear blues, motown, country, soca, rock, pop, funk, classical, reggae, and zouk.
It wasn't until the early 90's that he was introduced to hip-hop music. His big cousin Clifton 'Point Blank' Corbin had become one the most poplular dj's in the region and had set up his practice tables in the basement where Mikz and his family resided. For years he woke up to the sounds of hip-hop music and it became ingrained into his whole lifestyle.
In the late 90's, Mikz along with a crew of friends formed La Casa Records. This is where Mikz and the rest of the crew began to build and strengthen their skills. What started as a hobby eventually turned into a passion and a way of life.
Their hard work and hustle have landed them shows in most cities in Southern Ontario, as well as opening for artist such as Kardinal Official, Loyde Banks, Faye Lions, Elephant Man, and most recently Nas.
Mikz recently has teamed up with long time friend and prolific song writer Eric Delacruz to form Bigeminy Music. Together they are dedicated to creating and providing quality music and services to musicians and artists of all genres.
