Hello, I'm David - a fiddle player, music teacher and occasional composer based in Brighton, UK. I play traditional fiddle music, mostly from the Celtic and British traditions, plus any other tunes that catch my ear. I also play viola, mandola and guitar and have been known to wreck a good tune with an impromptu spoons solo.
My background was originally in classical music, but I gradually became immersed in the folk scene, purely by spending too much time in disreputable public houses. I also learned a great deal from the playing of the Sheffield fiddler Robin Garside, and from a whole host of other influences including Tom McConville, Ben Paley, Archetype, Arthur Grumiaux and The Old Rope String Band.
I also play with the wonderful Brighton singer-songwriter Frankylou, and we are currently recording some new material. Check out our recordings and gig dates on www.myspace.com/iamfrankylou
