About Me
I am the master of my domain. I answer all my own questions. I clone monkeys in my spare time. I know what you are thinking. I rarely blink. I woo women with my God-like & sensual trombone playing and I can make balloons in funny shapes...provided you consider round funny...Seriously, I've been married for sixteen years (sorry ladies) to the sweetest, most beautiful woman in the world, who also happens to be the hardest working P.T.A. in Louisiana. I have three awesome kids, Lauren, Andrew & Sarah... Lauren's an artist/drummer/guitarist/vocalist, Andrew's a budding young football and basketball star, and Sarah's undecided, as she's only an infant (updated 9-25-09)...I come from a very musical family...My Mom and Dad both play piano & sing, and my sister, Keri is an excellent vocalist, as well. I recently spent two years, from '06 -'08 drumming for Monte Montgomery, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter extraordinaire from Austin, Texas. I've been a fan for years, and truly consider it an honor to have shared the stage with one of my absolute favorite artists. I've been playing drums now for well over 30 years and have also been fortunate enough to share the stage with many others, such as (chronologically...sort of) Kevin Griffin from Better Than Ezra ("Aces Up", "Onyx" & "The Surfing Dachshunds"), Kenny Bill Stinson, Doug Duffey, Doug Kershaw (once), Richie Johnson, Joseph Parsons, H.B. Smith, Liz Neville, Mickey Mangun and The P.O.A. Mass Choir (with whom I had the honor of playing at the White House), Josh Hyde & The Hitchhikers, B.B Major, Shane Ward, Luke Brouillette, Sugarhouse, G.G. Shinn, Odell Wilson, Tim Turner, Steve Conn, Jack Silverman, Kenny Vaughan, Sonny Landreth, Michael Doucet, as well as countless bands in between. I've been in the music business, in some form or fashion, since I was twelve years old, whether it was working in a music store, running my own recording studio (where I engineered and/or played on several projects with some of the artists formerly mentioned) or playing live. I've toured Europe several times, toured all over the U.S. playing funk, rock & dance music, and done extended house gigs playing everything from Tower of Power to George Strait and Gospel to Swamp Pop. I consider myself primarily a groove oriented player, and have a vast range of influences including, but definitely not limited to, Richie Hayward, Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, Abe Laboriel, Jr., Shawn Pelton, Jim Keltner, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Stanton Moore, Bill Stewart, Steve Jordan, Earl Palmer, Johnny Vidacovich, Keith Carlock, Billy Ward, Steve Brewster, Matt Chamberlain & David Garibaldi, just to name a few...Basically, I love any music that grooves and I'm a sucker for an acoustic guitar and a good melody. As far as equipment goes, I use DW drums & hardware, Zildjian, Istanbul & Bosphorus cymbals, Evans drumheads and Regal Tip drumsticks (most of the time). I also LOVE vintage kits!...
