About Me

Mark Zerafa began playing drums and the age of 8 years old. He was influenced by the sounds of rock and jazz. These unique styles of music gave him the inspiration to become a musician and drummer. At the age of 21, he travelled to New York to further his experiences. This was to become one of many trips where he had the opportunity to further his knowledge and experience as a performing musician. During this time he had the opportunity to study with notable drummers including Pete Zeldman, Frank Katz, Brian Doherty and Michael Lauren. He has had the opportunity to teach and perform in the USA and Europe on three occasions. During this time, he had the opportunity to direct various bands and large ensembles and also conduct private lessons. Mark is a skilled composer, currently working on music for both solo drums and group format with some of Melbourne's finest improvisers. He also has various academic qualifications including a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Diploma of Education. Mark is currently based in Melbourne Australia where he regularly performs with many leading artists and bands.
