Band Members: Dj Flavor & Rico V
Influences: Made up of two DJs, Flavor and Rico V, French Vice is the association of two completely different styles. It’s the combination of old school House music as it once used to be, played by DJ Flavor, and the more up to date electronic generation of House music, played by Rico V.
The more experienced DJ Flavor started to mix with the right crowd in the early 90s. Laurent Garnier, Djaimin, Mr Mike and David Morales are just some of the famous names he was seen performing with.
Whereas Rico V arrived on the scene a bit later, but when he did, he climbed up the ladder pretty quickly. He knew how to bring forward the old House melodies, that he’s so fond of, and play them with the new beats of today.
They each had their own itinerary but their paths never stopped crossing. Since the early 2000, they took turns as resident DJs in several clubs : Duplex, Villa Rouge (Thonon-Les-Bains) and Niky’z (near Geneva).
Their style was resolutely House but you always expected them to add some Funk, Soul, r&b and even Rock sounds during their performances. According to them, music is not something that you file in categories, it’s an entity unto itself. They’ve gained so much experience from playing in bars and clubs that they can adapt to the desires of any customer.
Nowadays they enchant a variety of crowds and enhance their style as they perform at their respective residences, in the outskirts of Geneva for Flavor and in London for Rico V.
All these two DJs ever wanted, was to play good music. You can see it for yourself when you attend one of their live performances, either play together or individually.
At the end of the day, the association of these two young talents can only mean one thing, a very promising career. Very eager to express their style, they launched their own production this year through French Vice.
