About Me
Drummer Kris Duerinckx started studying jazz at the Antwerp Jazz Studio. Already in his first year as a student, he started being asked as a sideman by his teachers. At the end of his first year, he made a first record with: Bart Defoort, Bo Van Der Werf, Ron Van Rossum, Chris Mentens, Jan Muës... (among others) Pretty soon, he became a teacher at the Jazz Studio himself, made more records as a sideman with bands like: MICHEL LEGRAND(!) and the Flemish Radio Orchestra(cd-recording in may 2007), Nanook with André goudbeek and Bart Maris, the Fred Delplancq Quartet with Jef Neve and Guus Bakker, Mattis with Jozef Dumoulin, Nicolas Dory, Marco Locurcio and Jacques Pili, Odds On with Tom Van Dyck, Mark Haanstra, Andreas Suntrop, ...) and started playing on and off with most of the well known belgian jazzmusicians.
Because of his love for different styles, you'll find him playing in the more traditional jazz combo's, big bands, freejazz, fusion, funk, pop and rockbands, or in the most complex jazz-odd-meter bands. According to the setting of the moment, you'll find him playing very subtle or with overwhelming energy.
A lot of very well known drummers (some of them even played on Rock Werchter) came (and still come) studying drums with Kris.
Kris also played with more internationaly known people like: Mark Turner, Lew Tabackin, Chris Jennings, Manu Codjia, Mark Levine,...
