Moon to Versai

About Me

We were the "Band of the Week" in the IE Weekly. Here is the review by Phil Fuller... "Moon To Versai crank out playful instrumental pop ditties that oscillate between sugary-sweet, upbeat Game Boy music, dreamy, mopey progressions and vibrato-driven surf sounds. They can also aurally describe frenetic anxiety with surprising eloquence. The lack of lyrics and basic pop structure doesn't make the band overly pretentious, as is the case with a lot of instrumental bands eager to prove their superior musical skills (or lack thereof). The band keeps their music pop enough to attract average listeners, sure, but the focus here is on composition. They refrain from the terse trappings of your average radio-ready band by promulgating music that's remarkably free of cheesy hooks in favor of solid playing and a decidedly progressive sound that keeps their songs from getting stuck in the doldrums of monotony. The track “Lilliputian” is a fine example of how diverse the band can be, running from spacey, upbeat rock to frantic, metal-like crescendos, ensuring that you won't ever get bored by instrumentals—well, at least MtV's instrumentals—again. "More info and song clips available at the band's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/m00nt0versai (and those are zeros, not letters)Thank you Prestigious Vermontonians...This performance was on "Random Necessities for Audible Bliss"

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Jake Carter-Bass Guitar, Daniel Secuya-Guitar, Kramer Ruppe-Percussion
Influences: God sometimes, Satan all the time, Mary Magdalene was not a whore, bands that amaze us, progressive, modern, retro shit, really expensive brand new instruments from really corporate instrument stores, and trying to make it sound as old and vintage as possible, good literature, good art, scary movies, etc.
Sounds Like: If there was a part two to Old Man and the Sea (Hemingway), and Manolin (now a grown man) seeks vengeance on his friend/mentor's (Santiago) killer "The Sea". But before he can begin battle with "The Sea" he stumbles upon a new species of fish, "Dick Fish". Unfortunately the school of Dick Fish are sex starved, and brutally rape and abuse young Manolin. I don't want to ruin the ending for you, but let's just say that young Manolin's life is saved by a certain 18 ft. Marlin's (part one of Old Man and the Sea) offspring, which is just shy of 22ft. ........................... ............................................................ ......................Well if this sequel to "Old Man and the Sea" did exist, and was made into film, it would be directed by Wes Anderson, "Manolin's" character would be played by Gael Garcia Bernal, and the soundtrack would be MOON to VERSAI.
Type of Label: Major
