About Me
My name is Marcus Bartlett. I was born in a small town called Henderson, NC, home of Kerr Lake (our only claim to fame). At the age of 8, I asked my mother if I could play the piano, much to her surprise. As I sat down at the piano, I began to play chords, not knowing fully what I was doing. Little did I know that there was a gift that had been implanted into me by the Holy Ghost to play and minister music to the masses. In 1991, I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. I served as a musician in the gospel choir, the Neo-Black Society Gospel Choir, the years I attended. In 1994, I was invited to attend and play at Mt. Zion United Church of God, where the pastor is Elder Bernard J. Curry. I have been attending there faithfully for the last 13 years, where I currently serve as musician and Inspirational Choir President. Currently, I also serve as Music Director for the new-school urban group, Todd Curry and Focus, with Todd and his lovely wife April, who are the founders of the ministry, TLC Outreach Ministries, Inc. Additionally,I also have my own music company, MarcdMusic Productions, where my motto is "Making a stand for Christ, one soul at a time". I have been blessed to play with some great musicians, but my greatest musical influence is my father, Mr. Leandrew Bartlett. I am married to the former Phylise Stewart and we have 3 handsome sons, Marcus Jr. (4 years old), Stewart Phillip (3 years old), and Nicholas Nathan (1 year old).
