What about me? I finally married my partner in crime, Nate (2nd anniversary Sept. 25th...can't believe we've been together 10 years already!) and we gave birth last fall to a beautiful furry baby we named Tucker who tirelessly chases our two cats, Kharma and Shea. He's gonna lose an eye, I swear. We bought a house last year and are enjoying ourselves before settling down completely. I'm focusing on career and vacationing...hehe...being my restless self and always, always, always talking politics, religion, or any other topic which pisses people off but enthralls me. I'm working in my so-called "field" after graduating from college, and I've fulfilled my "five-year plan." Woo woo :P I love rainy days, in moderation, and sunny days when we can get them. I grow more and more aware daily that my country is fueling the demise of a world, in more ways than most people want to imagine. In spite of it, I want to experience everything I can in the time I have. Marches on Washington, protests, bulletin boards, reading, writing, blogging, philosophizing, finding old friends and making new ones, trying different career paths, constantly learning, always reaching, reaching, reaching...'cause we all go 'round only once...

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Myself. I'm still waiting...But also...Joni Mitchell, Ani Difranco, Neal Young, DMB, Jethro Tull, Sigmund Freud, Abraham Maslow, Charles Darwin, Allen Greenspan, Christopher Hitchens, President Dwight Eisenhower, President John F. Kennedy, President Jimmy Carter, President Ronald Reagan, and last but of course, certainly not least, Barack Obama.---Some of my favorite quotes...

1. "We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it." - Edward R. Murrow

2. "I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me." - Dudley Field Malone

3. For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us. - Charles Bukowski

4. Today enormous effort goes into convincing the American public that we're just consumers of media manipulation and sound-bites and spin doctors. That we care only about ourselves, money, and "stuff". That acting out of passion and conviction "doesn't make a difference". But all history shows that it does." - Bernadine Dorn

5. "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." - Henry David Thoreau

6. "Death is the only inescapable, unavoidable, sure thing. We are sentenced to die the day we're born." - Gary Mark Gilmore

7. "The moral flabbiness born of the exclusive worship of the bitch-goddess SUCCESS. That - with the squalid cash interpretation put on the word 'success' - is our national disease." - William James, in a letter to H.G. Wells

8. "It is easy enough to say that man is immortal simply because he will endure: that when the last ding-dong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking." - William Faulkner

9. "We are in the black theater of nonexistence. In an eye blink the curtain is up, the stage ablaze, for the vast drama of ourselves." - Herman Wouk

10. "It is often easier to become outraged by injustice half a world away than by oppression and discrimination half a block from home." - Carl Rowan

Everything. I hate picking a subject. "Rambling" doesn’t have a SUBJECT!

This country has a long history of pinning problems on upcoming generations.  Our generation will suffer the worst thus far, I think, because we not only have the problem of social security, but ...

The I Word

So the topic today is that taboo "I" word--immigration.  There's got to be a better solution than an absurdly long fence that still will not be long enough to keep immigrants out.  Who can b...
