Yak was born and raised on the South Side of Edmonton and hasn't left since. He offers the rap game his mind, body, and soul putting each of them on the line every time he drops a rhyme. Speaking the truth in each word down to the last syllable. What he considers his style to be is like the pill that neo took, taking his listeners on a trip down the rabbit hole showing the underbelly of e-town through the eyes of a young black street entrepeneur. The name Yak is short for what his name originally was Finanac (pronounced fin-a-yak), which stood for a percentage of cognac in a drink which he used to consome on a regular. The adding of Dollaz or The Dollaman was a self-proclaimed title due to the fact that every endeavor which he has embarked upon he has been the soul proprietor. Each time raising the bar higher and higher to the point where now he is the CEO of his own record label, On Track Records. The first track that Yak recorded was "On the Map" with Double D therefore inducing the birth of Contraband. His influences stem from artists like Paris, to Public Enemy, Run DMC, to LL Cool J, but now he is more heavily influenced by artists like UGK, Paul Wall and Chamillion, Three Six Mafia, and E-40. The genres of music that have contributed to Yak's style span from funk, rock, soul, R&B, reggae, and even classical. Yak's favorite sip is vodka & ginger, he also likes to lick back some cooler, and shoot off some bacardi 151"They call me Dollaman your neighborhood money maker/ I'm making money by taking money from fiends who hungry"
