Alive, Aware and Sexy – mesh these three qualities together and the entity that emerges from them is Nadine Navarre. Like the phoenix from the fire she is a breakthrough on the forefront of sound. Nadine Navarre is a true artist and energy. Her message is universal and her voice is timeless.“I believe that the job of the artist is to allow people to see themselves. The artist takes the energy and experiences of the listener – absorbs it, brings it to form and then displays it back to the listener to experience anew.â€This bilingual (she speaks French and Italian) sensation began studying music in the Humber College Jazz Youth Performance program, where she studied classical and jazz piano while participating in various jazz ensembles. She then went on to study music at the renowned Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts in Toronto, where she continued to study harmony and theory as well as instrumental music while participating in orchestras and small performance ensembles -as she is also an accomplished classical pianist.Performing in Toronto venues such as the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts and the J. Carrier Art Gallery, she also sang throughout Canada and Europe as a featured jazz soloist with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale and the Palestrina Chamber Chorus, and has worked onstage and off with renowned jazz musicians such as Joe Sealy, Carol Welsman and Andrew Craig.Nadine has polished her live performance with a series of intense film and stage scene study workshops with Teresa Sears and David Switzer at their renowned professional acting studio in Toronto. She has also studied privately with a variety of vocal coaches including Golfreddo Ricci, Deborah Jeans, Jean McPhail and Carol Welsman.Moving to London, England in 2002, she strove to find new influences to stimulate her creativity. Nadine found new producers at ICE-PR and Inner Circle Universal Records in Ladbroke Grove (London, UK) where she worked with Tim Russell and Jason Price writing material and recording at the Funky Bunker Studios. While performing in clubs throughout the West End such as the Notting Hill Arts Club, Mau Mau Bar, Ashbell’s Soul Food Restaurant (resident), China White, Kabaret, The Lonsdale, Cobden Club, Café Boheme, Trailer Park Happiness, and the Ground Floor Bar she gave performances to rave reviews. She also took part in the Prince’s Trust Urban Music Festival working with Natasha Drum & Jelone (Inner Circle Universal Records) taking the opportunity to introduce London to a fusion of solid bass lines and classic grooves, laced with earthy organic guitar leads. In addition to this Nadine continued working with the nu-jazz funk collective Marasma and Antonio Feola resulting in the release of a feature track on Goya Records (2006) called “Sunriseâ€.Returning back to Toronto late 2005, Nadine teamed up with the head of RoachMouth Music – Michael Rocha - tapping into a new creative energy – together they wrote new material and produced an EP (Oct 2007) as a precursor to the upcoming album (2009). In addition to this, a track from the EP was heard by legendary house music DJ Gene King of Shines Records. He remixed the track and released the Darque Fonque Remixes of “Walk with Me†on his label with much success – it was featured on Raisani Records: Miami Sessions 08, which hit number 1 on the Traxsource downloads charts. Fresh from performances in NYC at Sin Sin Lounge & the legendary Axiom Studios, Nadine’s latest release is with Plusgroove Records. Working with talented DJ/Producer Nick Tolentino, they have written and released “Slow it Down†(January 2009) - a dark and pulsating club track that is sure to attract much attention on the dancefloor. Nadine is also looking forward to additional upcoming releases on Shines Records (Toronto, Canada), Plusgroove Records (Toronto, Canada), Consortium Muzik(Chicago, USA) and Sole Channel Music (New York, USA).Nadine has also worked with legendary house/dance producer DJ Cosmo, having her featured track “Free to Run†released by Shah Records in March 2008. The track is currently featured on Pedro Del Mar’s compilation Mellomania, vol. 11 (2008) as well as two other vocal trance compilation albums (The Best in Vocal Trance 2008 and Vocal Trance Essentials 2008).In addition to her own shows, Nadine has performed as a guest vocalist on stage and in the studio for the Toronto funk house bands God Made Me Funky, King Sunshine and Alpha Q as well as the alternative house rock funk collective Novacosm. She continues to perform as a guest artist on many recordings and live shows for various bands in London, England and Toronto, Canada lending her voice on anything from debut albums to film scores to performing with her own funk band. She is also performing extensively with the Symmetry Studios, nine piece rnb/funk/ jazz cover band at various venues all over Toronto.There is a new light illuminating the path for this up and coming singer/songwriter. She is an artist that is dedicated to her craft and strives to reach new levels of development for the sound that she calls home. “The simple joy of doing what you are called to do along the path is enlightening and engaging.
