About Me

I have been mixing records since I was 18. I only use two vinyl turntables and a mixer (still haven’t bothered getting round to using CDJs yet!). Previous experience includes working for a local student radio in Nottingham called Fly FM and also promoting and playing at nights in Notts as well as in Liverpool. I currently present and produce my very own live internet radio show which goes on air every other Thursday on www.myhouse-yourhouse.net. I produce music under the name of Down In The Basement with my father Klutz and we profile guest mixes on a fortnightly show on Sundays on www.myhouse-yourhouse.net. We have had a record released on Myhouse-Yourhouse Records and there are more releases planned in the near future on that label.

Influences: i grew up on the sounds of techno and acid house and attending clubs such as voodoo and bugged out! that were in liverpool from 2000-02. also influenced by early chibuku (when they used to book house djs). madhatters (leeds) and diy (nottingham) had a major impact with regard to what i like and listen to now. since joining myhouse-yourhouse radio, ive been inspired by a lot of djs on there.
Sounds Like: its basically records i like (almost always underground house) and mixed through improvisation. that means i dont really plan where to drop tracks or how to mix them together. its also mixed really fast, so a lot of the time ill only play say 30-60 seconds worth of the record before the next record comes in. i wouldnt say my mixing is very tight (with regards to beatmatching) and thats because i dont really use headphones nor touch the record. i control the speed of the records purely via the pitch.
Record Label: MHYH Records
Type of Label: Indie
