The T.West Band

Our music is a vast mix of many types of music and musicians, both known and unknown...and life itself. All of us in the T.West band have extremely vast musical interests and influences. That's a big part of our different sound and difficulty in labeling us in any genre ...especially when it comes to our original music. T.West does the writing, but every member of our band puts their own signature on the music and brings to the table a fusion of background influences that creates the unique and different sound.

WDVX Blue Plate SpecialPhoto By: www.blackdotgraphics.comMetro Pulse [March 20, 2008-pp43-M.E.] "The T.West Band plays a mix of folk, rock and fiddle music. The songs on their new self-titled CD, recorded last year at a Blue Plate Special at WDVX, are both driving and haunting, mostly minor-key hippie-folk dirges that occasionally drift into a down-and-dirty variation on the blues. Frontwoman Theresa West's weathered and haunted vocals are the ace in the hole; half=spoken, half-sung, at times otherworldly, they complement the alternately eerie and buoyant fiddle lines. (Brian Doogan's increasingly vast catalog of promotional art for the band, influenced by the underground comics and psychedelic cartoonists of the late '60s and early '70s, is a fitting visual representation of the group's music.)(M.E.)"Metro Pulse [September 20, 2007- M.G.] Dubbed "Neo-Traditional" The T.West Band is "Roots Music Modernized"- wooloughby. It's a fusion of acoustic high-energy folk-rockin' jazzy-blues roots music! free player from mysplayer.comEmail T.West: www.myspace.com/twestcdsT.West, Guitar & Lead Vocals. I've been playing since I was sixteen. I quit for 10 years. I've played in some great places both large and small and with great musicians in great crowds the same. Music has taken me places I never would have gone without it. It's brought me friends I never would have known otherwise. I grew up with musicians and far too many times i've had people tell me at shows that they did not have that joy in their lives growing up. I came to understand there's no reason to play but for the experiences music has brought me.

Funk,

I now play more with a Funk feel, Jazz harmony, and a Punk attitude but if a song calls for something else I will obey the artform.

free player from mysplayer.comAndy Wood has been kidnapped from the Exit 65 band to play with the T.West band. He's a very well known percussionist who has been playing in bands for longer than he will allow us to say :) and has more toys than any man has a right to....so seeing Andy perform is an experience all by itself!

free player from mysplayer.comAt heart, I have a split musical personality, as Neil Young describes it in his song "From Hank to Hendrix." I've been trying to balance folk-based acoustic music against guitar-god posturing for the better part of my life. I've performed many kinds of Americana and many kinds of rock music both in my native Georgia and my recently adopted hometown of Knoxville. Most recently, I've played guitar and sung with Maryville roots-rockers Peach Orchard and in support of Knoxville singer-songwriter Mark Coram. I might be the only Les Paul devotee you'll meet who's just as likely to play "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" as "Whipping Post."

free player from mysplayer.comTerry "Teep" Phillips is probably the most well respected and best known side man in Knoxville. He plays many insturments but most noteworthy with the T.West Band a mean lead guitar and Terry plays with many other bands, but we have the honor of having him on call with the T.West Band this year and have enjoyed every performance we've had the pleasure of.
