Poised to be the next voice of Indianapolis, Andriea Lee is a fresh, new talent on the R&B scene. She was born into a musical family and developed her voice in her schools’ gospel and show choir growing up. Andriea’s smooth, sultry voice can be traced to many influences: India Arie, Jill Scott, Beyonce, and such gospel legends as Kim Burrell, Daryl Coley, and Karen Clark-Sheard.
Andriea is also a talented songwriter. She is currently working on her album, Stages of Love, using soulful lyrics and music to delve into matters of the heart, lost and found love, and love unrequited.
Andriea Lee sang her first solo in church, at the young age of five. She began writing songs at a young age as well. After high school, Andriea went on to develop her vocal talent through classical training. In 2006, the vocalist auditioned for American Idol.
Though she didn’t make the show, she continued to pursue a career in music. Her passion grew stronger and she sought out help from local vocalists and musicians to improve her craft. Ms. Lee was introduced to an open stage, held weekly at The Point Lounge. She used this place as a workshop to learn cover songs, strengthen her stage presence, and to build a fan base. Shortly after seriously honing in on her craft, the singer/songwriter performed at Cloud 9 as a featured artist.
She has also performed with national recording band, The Team. Andriea is also a part of an upcoming, local project, Bout Time, with a band named Knocturnal. Recently, Andriea Lee was the featured artist at Wordsmiffs Performance Series held at MoJoe’s Coffeehouse. There she performed her original songs with a live band behind her.
Currently, Ms. Andriea Lee can be found performing at local venues around the city of Indianapolis.
