The Whiskey Biscuits band is here for the love of music - live, foot stompin’ good timin’, music. The vast array of music played is due in part to 4 separate styles of music brought to the band (Tom – Country & Rock, Ryan – Blues & Jazz, Nick – Pop & Rock, Amy – Soul & Folk). The Whiskey Biscuits are primarily a cover band covering tunes across the board from the likes of Johnny Cash & Waylon Jennings, The Violent Femmes, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tom Petty to OAR & Dave Matthews (a few original songs left over from August Again…see below). The WB’s origin has a few twists and turns so bare with us. Tom Duke and Ryan Beyler met in 1995 through a very good mutual friend in Greg Faris…together, later in the friendship; Tom & Ryan began writing, playing and enjoying music together on an almost daily basis. Tom’s longtime hometown friend Adam Brower had been writing songs since he was very young and had a passion to put these to music….together the 3 formed a group known as August Again. Adam (rhythm guitar & vocals), Ryan (lead guitar) & Tom (Drums) played small gigs around town and recorded some of Adams songs through lifetime father figure and well respected musician Al Stone (CEO, King Media). With the demand of gigs increasing, the group came to the conclusion that they were in desperate need of a bass player. In the summer of 2002, August Again asked - former member of Big Daddy Caddy, presently with Dark House Sweet – Justin Goldstein to join the band. More tracks were laid down as the group kept writing and later that summer August Again released their self-titled debut, August Again featuring Bill Duke (Tom’s dad) ..board. Through 2003 the group played gigs throughout Indianapolis & surrounding areas. Later that year though brought trouble into the hearts of the group as Tom’s dad Bill (a huge musical mentor- among other things- for the group) lost his 4 year battle with cancer on August 30th. Tom went in a different direction then, as school was consistently creeping up on Adam and Ryan. Justin found his home where he currently is with Dark House Sweet, Adam started law-school and Ryan went the medical avenue.3 years passed… With Tom and Ryan itching to get back into the musical arena and with more experience under each others belts, Ryan began playing tunes with fraternity brother & now lead singer, Nick McCallum (IU). Quickly Nick and Ryan tried to incorporate Tom as a drummer/percussionist with the tunes… Even though Tom was a drummer by trade, he had always played rhythm guitar and with the new-look band, it made much more sense to have Tom playing & singing along side Ryan & Nick on most tunes as opposed to the drums. Tom’s sister Amy Duke (also with Tea & Sympathy & pianist at Howl at the Moon) sat in with the group (time permitting) adding un-matched harmonies to the group & their sound (with the addition of the Keyboard later). The newly formed acoustic group called themselves a number of things (Green Room) before deciding on “Enough To Go ‘Roundâ€. While getting their feet underneath them and also trying to find their identity…’ETGR’ played as the house band at a bar in Sheridan, Indiana called The Red Onion/Rodney’s Place from May of 2006- July of 2007. The Red Onion was and is known for their excellent food and at 1am every night ETGR played, due to the heavy crowds, they would serve made-from-scratch biscuits & gravy. Mixed with the choice libations (use your imagination) the band chose to consume; the owner of the bar had no choice but to make the comment to the band one morning around 2:30am “You guys are full of nothing but good music, whiskey and biscuits†…..A new band was formed. Today The Whiskey Biscuits play venues all over Indianapolis and the mid-west. Tom, Ryan, Nick and Amy bring an aura to the stage that is hard to match. Their enthusiasm and crowd interaction will not go unnoticed; no matter the venue. Even though the Biscuits are acoustic, you always get the feel that you are listening to a full band. Ryan’s incredible and experienced lead guitar carries the group, while Tom plays a solid bass to the music with his rhythm guitar, plus adds in a different component vocally with the number of tunes he sings, Nicks versatile voice allows the group to expand to more than just a country rock band…it touches on a heavier side of rock & pop and it’s always steady. Amy loads the sets down with harmonies hard to imitate and a keyboard that completes the bands sound. Their love of the music that they play is unwavering…you will not leave any show unhappy. The WB’s are available to book most weekends…please contact Ryan or Tom for further inquiries.~Peace, Love and Whiskey BiscuitsI made this myspace background at
