Simon "The Ertquake" Ert studied percussion and acting at the Mc Donald College of Performing Arts. Then Studied Percussion at the Sydney Conservatorium of music with David Jones and privately with John Morrison. He has also studied in New York and Los Angeles with Mike Clarke (of Herbie Hancock ..Head-hunters) Carl Allan and Jeff Hamilton (of the Ray Brown trio), with whom he maintains regular contact. Simon has performed extensively as a Drummer with the likes of Little Pattie, James Morrison, Andrew Firth, Bobby Gebert, Col Nolan, Roger Frampton, Blaine Whittaker, Dom Halpin and the Suspects, David Cashman, Woody and the Senator, The Harbour City Jazz Band, Don Burrows, Members of the Danish Radio Orchestra, Eroll Buddle and many others. He also runs his own Kansas City Swing Band Called Snap, Crackle & Bop and is Currently the Percussionist with The Upper House.
In 1999 Simon toured Europe playing at the Montreux, Brosella, Brienz, Antibes, Perugia and Atina International Jazz festivals. In March 2002 and 2003 Simon was the winner of the Swing City Australian Drum Battle.Simons Acting credits include, Teddy in Arsenic and Old Lace for Hornsby theatre Company, Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys & Dolls for Mosman and Bankstown Theater companies, John the Baptist / Judas in Godspell for The Guild Theatre, Charlie Brown in Your a Good Man Charlie Brown for The Woodstock Players, Fatty Arbuckle in Mack & Mable for Willoughby theatre company, Poterpher in Joseph and His Technicolour Dream Coat, Burt Healy in Annie, Knocka in Dimboola & Herod in JC Superstar for FYTC and CTG.
