About Me

**A hard-working, in-love romantic; trying to find inspiration and motivation in a world full of chaos and corruption.**My aim in life is to make sumthing of myself, to make my mark on the world, hopefully through my writing.I am transfixed by beauty and awed by music. Music itself is magical for me: the lyrical beauty of some music I listen to -i.e. Common, Keyshia (Cole), John Legend's AMAZING performance, and some of the books I read move me.What is most beautiful to me at the moment?: my best mate and boyfriend, London city, my sister, the one and only SexyBexy, John Legend's voice [WHY DID THAT GIG HAVE TO END?!] and God.One day I want to have the confidence to publish my creative work. ..

My Interests

*Music!*, poetry and Visual arts, what's inside a person's head, passion and inspiration.

I'd like to meet:

More girl-friends like my good mate Bec because friendship is golden. Patrick Augustus, Common Sense and I guess more writers in general because I could learn a lot from them. Courttia Newland and Alex Wheatle could probably help me with my dissertation too!

Music:

My Views on Music
I try to listen to a mix of genres i.e.- Corrine Bailey-Rae, Bounty Killah, Bob Marley of course, KANO, Amerie, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Lost Prophets, Linkin Park, Jay-z, J-Hud, James Morrison, Mary J Blige, B.I.G duets, Damien Marley, Jack's Mannequin (their alb is AMESOME). Common is my hip-hop hero
I'm an RnB girl at heart, though I admit that the genre isn't what it used to be
- My favourites within the genre tend to lean towards the soul and jazz varieties more than popularised RnB and HipHop culture- i.e. Musiq Soulchild, John Legend and Jill Scott over 50 and Game, though I can stand the latter in moderation-, and I rate my rap music mainly in terms of its message (i'm a lyrical listener), so Common I listen to on a daily, as well as listening regularly to the likes of the ultimate male diva (Kanye West), Sway (De CYPHAA), Yung HOV/JayZeeZee, Little Brother and Outkast.
- I'm looking forward to Fabolous' new album (It's My Year) at the moment and maybe listening to the Step Up 2 sountrack- I've heard it makes good gym material!
- My favourite album at the moment is now Estelle 'Shine'; her voice is amazing and she has some wicked producers. There's a track called 'You Are' feat. the amazing John Legend (my absolute soul hero)which I am just goin CRAZY over.
- Classic love singers for me include Donnell, Tyrese and Musiq on the male side, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Alicia Keys and Amerie on the female side.
- That was a long summary but the shortest way to describe what music is for me! Music is something to feel, and something that feels me. It's a connection that's both lyrical and straight-forwardly musical- i appreciate both aspects, though my appreciation of a song can be dramatically hindered if it's weak lyrically.

Movies:

Faves: Clueless (i'm not ashamed!), Love and Basketball, Love Jones, Waiting to Exhale (Angela Basset is AMAZING), The House of Flying Daggers, Internal Affairs, LOTR, Crouching Tiger.Fave genres: I can usually watch anything but Ben-Stiller-esque comedy and unashamed horror- Wolf Creek never again!

Television:

PRISON BREAK!, One Tree Hill, The Apprentice, Kevin Hill, Scrubs, Everybody Hates Chris.

Books:

Too many to name- I'm an English student for heaven's sake!Ultimate leisure reading that springs to mind as particularly great is Patrick Augustus' 'BabyFather' series, J. D. Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye' and Jane Green's 'Bookends'.I'm currently reading Courttia Newland's 'Society Within' and Victor Headley's 'Yardie' for both work and pleasure. I've also just finished listening to Linton Kwesi-Johnson's poetry on CD which is AWAMZING.This morning at 4am (12.12.07) I finished Alex Wheatle's 'East of Acre Lane' and I'm so asking for the rest of the trilogy for Christmas! I read it in two days it was just so moving, and educational and fitted together perfectly as a finished work. I can't wait to get even more into black urban writers and educate myself on the struggle. I love my dissertation! (I'm a geek and seriously am not ashamed anymore..!)

Heroes:

My godmothers for being so amazing and supportive. My boyfriend for constantly rescuing me in practical situations and combating my irrationality with his rational mind.
