About Me

Yo Momma is an American reality television game show hosted by Wilmer Valderrama, Sam Sarpong, Jason Everhart and Los Angeles radio DJ Big Boy on voice-over. The show is currently aired on MTV.The series is based on "the dozens," an African American oral tradition in which two individuals trade insults, typically directed at an opponent, his/her mother, or another member of his/her family, until one is unable to offer a comeback. In each episode, locals from various neighborhoods in a large city compete to win "cash money" by winning several rounds of "the dozens."Season 1 was taped in Los Angeles, and aired in spring 2006. Season 2 will take place in New York City, and will premiere in fall 2006.Basic Format One of Valderrama's associates, Sam or Jason (who only use their first names), go to a neighborhood where five or six contestants take each other on in a free-for-all "dozens" competition. From there, two or three are selected and are then pitted against each other. Each neighborhood winner picked by Sam or Jason advances to a final "battle."After winning the neighborhood round, each contestant visits the other contestant's house with Valderrama in order to garner "ammunition" or "ammo" (embarrassing or unusual things that the contestant owns or does) to use against his or her opponent in the final round. The final battle then comprises several rounds: general jokes about the opponent's momma, jokes directed specifically at the opponent's home, living situation or personal style, and a final "knock-out" joke. Valderrama, in consultation with Sam and Jason, selects a winner, who receives $1,000 in "cash money" as Valderrama calls it, and moves on to the "Best of the Week" round."Best Of The Week" The winners come back for a "Best Of The Week" show, where the format is slightly different. The four do a freestyle round, Wilmer and his posse pick the best, and then that one calls out another of the daily winners. These two compete in a round of "Yo Momma," as do the two remaining contestants; in this round, the contestants are limited to only one or two subjects (cheap and dumb, poor and fat, etc.) The four runners-up from that week's daily battles serve as the jury for these two battles, and determine which two participants advance to the finals. After determining the two finalists for that week, a special guest joins Wilmer for the weekly final battle. The final battle consists of three rounds, which are based on speed (each player gets 30 seconds to rank on the other), dissing the other player's relation or friend who has come along for the final, and the knockout joke. In the end, the winner gets another $1000 and also wins a game console, tickets to a sporting event or entertainment event (like a a stand up performance of Mike Epps), and dinner at either of two restaurants owned by Valderrama .. Geisha House and Dolce. The gaming products won by the weekly champion have been a Playstation Portable, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and Game Boy Micro.Example of a joke: Yo momma is so fat, When she goes swimming, whales start singing, "We are family, I got my sister with me." Yo momma is so fat she walked past the TV and i missed a whole season."Best of the Week" winners Season 1:Week One: Chuck Week Two: Lady V Week Three: D.Redd Week Four: Harp"Best of the Week" runners-up Season 1:Week One: Dee Week Two: Paul Week Three: Kenny Week Four: Chris"Best of the City" After four weeks of competition, the weekly winners are invited back again to determine an ultimate winner from the city, who would receive an additional $5000.Season 1 (Best of LA) Harp, who quickly gained popularity early on in the series with his high voice and physical antics while doing his jokes, was voted Best of L.A. after beating Vakisha in the first round and Chuck in the final round. He came to the finals dressed with a blue cape and boxing gloves which read "Yo Momma" when put together; his final knockout joke was "Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. I slept with yo momma, now it burns when I pee"!Guest appearances Week 1: Method Man/Donald Faison (On the first episode, Donald Faison made a guest appearance) Week 2: Mike Jones Week 3: Chingy Week 4: Ne-Yo Best of LA: The "Mommas" of the runners-up (who served as the jury in one round)Host Wilmer Valderrama searches Los Angeles looking for the best trash-talkers.
