About Me
JustnMC (Justin McQuillen) is me, and I've lived basically my whole life in a smaller version of New Orleans known as Mobile, Alabama. I got into Hip Hop around age 7 when I heard the Beastie Boys and Run DMC on the radio. I instantly thought it was the coolest shit ever, and still do. Watched YO! MTV Raps everyday it was on, and that introduced me to De La Soul, GangStarr, Public Enemy, Digital Underground, The Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest and so many more. Thought I was Jim Morrison in high school, so I wrote poetry and did all the drugs I could find. I enjoyed expressing myself through the written word, so around my senior year I began writing rhymes. Me and some friends did "Scenario" by A.T.C.Q. in the talent show, and I would also get up at house parties w/ bands and do "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" with my boys Dave and Chuck. After High School, I went through frequent bouts of depression and after years of rampant drug use, I decided to go straight edge when I was 23. And that's about the same time my cousin AyDee and I started trying to put songs together. We've both been through some serious sh!+, but we have always tried to look @ negative things from a positive angle, shining a little light on the darkness in life. A couple years later, we met up with Pistol Pete and he started writing beats for us, which far exceeded the janky stuff I had made so far. We did our 1st show around 2003, with our good friends from Jazz Jones performing our instrumentals live. Now we have C.E.P on the turntables, with Pete still supplying the beats and we just did a track w/ C-Stubbs. Mobile has some cool venues, and we've played them all with many different local bands, most of which are on our TOP 16 so check'm out! We've also opened for bigger acts when they came to town like MC Chris, DJ Klever, Mad Happy, Psyche Origami, Collective Efforts, DJ Quickie Mart and the Media Darling crew, DJ Immortal and even Group X. Hopefully we'll bring our postive message to your town real soon.
