Made in China is a rock group from Dunedin, New Zealand. The band’s sound ranges from heavy rock through grunge and metal, and is supported by a tight, intense live show. To this end, the band is currently between National tours. The first of these, in April / May 09, took in 7 cities, and was highly successful in expanding the band’s profile and promoting their Debut E.P. In October, the band takes to the road again, this time with a swathe of new material to test for a forthcoming full-length album. These tours build on Made in China’s work in 2008, in which they independently released their Heavy Low E.P, and toured the South Island twice, with NZ metal heavyweights Sinate in November, and with fellow Dunedinites Incarnate in August / September. Made in China continue to push the envelope with their writing - fusing innumerable influences in creating the well-crafted songs that fuel their explosive live shows...
“This 5 track debut EP is impressive. There's a nice combination of styles done convincingly with excellent vocals and stand-out musicianship... The Aussie band 'Ancient Man' or QotSA are good reference points, stoner/doom savvy rock with well-paced song structures embued with just enough pop sensibility to provide hooks that sink in.” - E.P. Review from www.stonerdoom.co.nz
“Notorious for delivering one hell of a live show… [Made in China’s] Heavy Low EP [is] Nicely recorded, reminds me of a cross between Nirvana’s ‘Negative Creep’ and ‘God Smack’ by Alice in Chains… hints of bands like Silverchair and Helmet but there’s also a great classic Hard Rock / Blues vibe in there as well… looking forward to hearing an album from these guys!” - E.P. Review from www.NZRock.com
“Made in China come together with their sound well as a band, even with the threat of a microphone stand flying in their faces as the lead vocalist entertains the crowd with his delinquent antics…The night ended with one fan close to collapsing…” - Live Review from www.thepenguinclub.co.nz.
