Miss Mandy

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars - Oscar Wilde

About Me

I'm an Anglophile from California who is passionate about history and art...not too thorough a description but, there it is.

My Interests

I have a certian passion for both history and the arts and am at most at home when surrounded by such things. It might sound old fashion, but, I would love to live a life wherein I could read, make music, paint, travel, and basically absorb all the culture I could...a truly cosmopolitan lifestyle...

I'd like to meet:

Though I'd like to meet these guys, I'd be rather scared to do so as they are all quite dead...quite

Music:

Let's see...The Beatles...need I say more? Well I will... David Bowie, Marc Bolan and T-Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Roxy Music, The Damned, The Proclaimers and then there's the standards... Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Gilbert and Sullivan, Bach...etc. etc. etc.
Artists Aubrey Beardsley and Francois Boucher

Kay Nielsen and Caravaggio

Movies:

Amadeus, Help! (well all of the Beatles movies actually), Monty Python and the Holy Grail, What About Bob, Bill and Ted, The Mummy, Anything with the Marx Brothers (esp. A Night at the Opera), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Raven, The Fly, The Beast with Five Fingers...oh I could go on and on...

Television:

My favorite tv show will forever be I Love Lucy

Blackadder is a great show with some of the best Brits on the business

The geek in me just loves Mythbusters and Alton Brown

I will always love cartoons and the Looney Toons are the cream of the crop in their genre

Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie are great together and, I think, at their best as Jeeves and Wooster

Who doens't love Mr. Bean...just look at that face

I'm guessing hardly anybody recognizes Ant & Dec but I fell in love with their show whilst living in the UK, such cute little Brits

Books:

Dracula, the Picture of Dorian Gray, The Canterville Ghost, The Jewel of Seven Stars, The Consolation of Philosophy, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Vampire Chronicles, The Invisible Man, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, any and all history books about ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire and almost everything written by the romantic poets

Heroes:
