Beto Medina was born in Luanda (Angola) at 20th June 1972. Lived there until the age of 11 and moved with his family to Portugal in 1983.In 1987, Beto, with his brothers, created a band called "Amy'83". They played Reggae and Pop music.Years later, in 1993 and already with some living experiences in the british musical scene, Beto decided to put together a new project under the name of "Blackout". With some new elements in the band, they followed a funky soul, acid- jazz grooves.In 1995, after a great musical exchange between countries, he signed a record deal with Universal (at that time, Polygram).First Album in 1995 (Blackout - blackout), recorded in London, produced by Ernie Mckone (ex bass player of Galliano, Carleen Anderson) and Beto Medina, with participation of musicians like Eddie Dublin (drums/ Reuben Wilson), Andy Price (keys), Wavey C, D.J.
