Aroma Caribe were formed in March 1994 by Greek and Latin American
musicians. They are based in Thessaloniki,Greece. They have succeeded through
hard work, lots of experience and of course their talent, to create a unique and
solid sound, reaching up to the level of big Latin orchestras from Europe and
Latin America.
Their repertoire apart from salsa, chacha, bolero, mambo, consists classic jazz,
latin jazz and soul& funk tunes arranged by Yiannis Economides, and originals
also composed by Yiannis Economides. Having achieved an authenting sound in
playing traditional latin forms they choose to continue exploring latin idiom by
emphasizing in orchestration and latin jazz. They gained not only the title of
the best and most authentic latin band in Greece,but the admiration and
regognition of legendary musicians such as Roberto Pla,Tito Puente,Alfredo
Rodriguez,Ray Vega and others. They have consorted in concerts with
Roberto & Ricardo Pla, Ray Vega,Williams Cumberbache and Herman Olivera and played support For Tito
Puente, Celia Cruz ,Los Van Van, Orlando Maraca Valle, Eddie Palmieri
Alfredo Rodriguez and Steve Turre.
Their first CD album is also the first original and complete latin and latin
jazz album ever recorded in Greece. The title of the CD is Musica Latina
.It’s a noteworthy recording, with mostly latin jazz originals by Yiannis
Economides, unic arrangements in classic latin jazz tunes and amazing
orchestrations. In the CD Musica Latina , Aroma Caribe feature the great
Colombian timbalero and band leader Roberto Pla, and also participate as
solo guests the Kaval virtuoso Theodosii Spassov from Bulgaria,Williams
Cumberbache from Venezuela and the legendary trumpet player Ray Vega
from New York.
